It takes, sometimes years!
I’ve observed that most people who contact me, subscribe to my newsletter, or engage on Facebook are at different stages of what I call the "journey to France." From my perspective, this journey typically unfolds in four stages:
Stage 1: Dreaming: People are imagining a new life or vacation home in France, exploring possibilities, and weighing their options.
Stage 2 : Narrowing Down: Their focus sharpens on France as their destination, with clearer plans and milestones emerging.
Stage 3: Preparing: Within a 12–18 month time frame, they begin actively planning, addressing practicalities like visas, language learning, and real estate.
Stage 4: Acting: Fully committed, they are actively searching for properties and working with professionals to bring their relocation plans to life.
I estimate that most are in Stage 1 (45–50%), with fewer in Stage 4 (1–2%) and Stage 3 (6-10%).
